Senior Software and Robotics Engineer

Senior Software and Robotics Engineer - the person in this role will design, implement, test and deliver the software and business logic layer for new robotic warehouse installations. The role focuses on supporting the operation and programming of industrial robotic arms and delivering robust software services using technologies such as Python, ROS and Docker. The candidate will be expected to lead projects independently and contribute to the development of complex robotic systems.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of software components and business logic for robotic warehouse systems.
  • Develop, integrate and maintain control and coordination software for robotic arms using Python and ROS.
  • Create and maintain containerized deployments and development environments with Docker.
  • Implement and execute unit, integration and system-level tests to ensure software reliability and safety.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hardware, controls and operations to deliver complete solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles, including requirements analysis, architecture, implementation and delivery.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and propose practical, scalable solutions for automation and robotics challenges.
  • Document designs, interfaces and operational procedures to support maintainability and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Solid proficiency in Python and experience applying it to robotics or industrial automation contexts.
  • Understanding of core robotics concepts relevant to programming robotic arms (kinematics, motion planning, control concepts).
  • Hands-on experience programming industrial robot arms; experience with ABB robot systems is a strong advantage.
  • Practical experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) and associated toolchains.
  • Experience with containerization technologies, notably Docker, and deploying container-based applications.
  • Proven technical leadership capabilities, demonstrated by leading projects or technical workstreams independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in complex, interdisciplinary technical environments.
  • Fluent communication in English, both written and spoken.
  • Relevant degree in computer science, robotics, engineering or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
