We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer with Crypto expertise to design and implement core backend services for ORA. The person in this role will operate at a senior to near-architect level, delivering secure cloud integration using KMIP and Barbican, applying advanced cryptography knowledge, and contributing to Kubernetes-based infrastructure and management layers. The candidate must demonstrate practical, hands-on experience in cryptography and backend development within distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop ORA core backend services and core platform components, integrating with Key Management Systems via KMIP for services such as Barbican and Ceph.
- Build, operate and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure, including Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), operators and controllers across infrastructure and management layers.
- Implement and validate secure communication and data protection mechanisms using TLS and advanced encryption techniques.
- Collaborate with architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure coherent integration, deployment and operational practices.
- Author and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality, reliability and repeatability.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, provide technical leadership in backend development and support design reviews and technical roadmaps.
Qualifications
Essential
- Extensive backend development experience at a senior level in at least one of: Java, Golang or Python.
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience in cryptography and secure systems; CV must show concrete cryptography work and familiarity with TLS and data encryption.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes, including both platform infrastructure and management automation.
- Familiarity with OpenStack and related integration patterns.
- Proven ability to design and operate complex distributed systems and core services.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit tests and integration tests for backend systems.
- Fluent English for technical communication and collaboration.
- Required technical skills: Java, Golang, Python, Kubernetes, OpenStack, unit testing and integration testing.
Desirable
- Knowledge of KMIP and secure key-management best practices.
- Experience with Barbican or similar key-management services and open-standards integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud convergence concepts and ORA architecture.
- Understanding of scalability and performance optimisation for microservices-based systems.
