Senior Java Engineer with German to join a Scrum-based development team responsible for the maintenance, enhancement and continuous development of vehicle-side and back-office software components. The person in this role will ensure reliable communication and integration between operational systems and contribute across the end-to-end software lifecycle, including solution design, implementation, testing, release preparation and technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain software components for the Mobile Integration Platform (MIP).
- Enhance and support both vehicle-side and back-office system components to ensure operational reliability.
- Implement user stories, change requests and defect fixes within agile sprint cycles.
- Develop backend applications and services using Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
- Participate in solution design and develop technical concepts for new features and system improvements.
- Perform code reviews and engage in pair programming to maintain code quality and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Create, maintain and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality.
- Troubleshoot, analyse defects and contribute to timely resolution of software issues.
- Support software release preparation and deployment activities, including artifact management.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD-related development processes and associated tooling.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture decisions and implementation guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, developers and other agile team members throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support software operation, platform stability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with GitLab-based development and documentation workflows.
- Support development and deployment activities in Linux-based environments where required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional Java development experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Spring framework.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Spring Boot.
- Minimum 3 years of experience using GitLab for code and documentation management.
- German language proficiency at B2/C1 level.
- Railway-specific experience in vehicle IT environments is an advantage (more than 3 years preferred).
- Experience with Jenkins (up to 3 years) is desirable.
- Experience in Linux development and operation (up to 3 years) is desirable.
- Practical experience with unit and integration testing, CI/CD pipelines and artifact management.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and commitment to delivering reliable software.
