Mid/Senior Ruby On Rails Developer

Job Overview

We are looking for a Mid / Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join a healthtech team delivering solutions for the US market that speed up patient access to prescribed medicines. The person in this role will work on a mature Ruby on Rails monolith, help maintain high quality and security standards for sensitive medical data, and contribute to features that directly shorten the time from prescription to home delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain server-side features in a large Ruby on Rails codebase organized by domain.
  • Design and optimize relational data models in PostgreSQL; integrate with MSSQL where required.
  • Implement and maintain background processing with Sidekiq and ensure reliable job flows.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and WebSocket endpoints; implement secure authentication (JWT, cookie-based, OAuth).
  • Write and maintain automated tests (Minitest or similar), using fixtures and following test-first practices where appropriate.
  • Participate in architectural decisions with scalability and security in mind.
  • Use feature flags (LaunchDarkly) to deliver safe, incremental releases; monitor errors via Sentry and work with analytics in Metabase.
  • Review and refine code produced with AI assistance and apply critical judgement to ensure quality and security.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and clients in English and participate in technical calls, demos, and requirements discussions.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines (Docker, CI/CD) and collaborate on operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • Mid: minimum 3 years, Senior: minimum 5 years of professional experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design; familiarity with NoSQL, caching, and message brokers.
  • Practical knowledge of REST APIs, WebSockets, and authentication methods (JWT, cookie-based, OAuth).
  • Experience with CI/CD, Docker and Git workflows.
  • Good understanding of design patterns, SOLID principles, and automated testing (RSpec, Minitest, or similar).
  • Experience making architectural decisions that consider scalability and reliability.
  • Daily use of AI tools in development and ability to critically review AI-generated code.
  • Fluent English for client-facing communication; fluent Polish for internal collaboration.

Nice to Have

  • Frontend experience with Vue or React.
  • Experience with AWS (or other cloud providers) and Nginx.
  • Background in HealthTech or pharmacy domains (HIPAA, e-prescribing, insurance workflows, FHIR).
  • Experience working embedded at client sites, in consulting, as a full-stack delivery engineer, or in startups with broad responsibilities.
