Database Administrator (Oracle)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The person in this role will take responsibility for Oracle database administration, ensuring availability, performance and security across production and supporting environments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a proven Oracle background and a recognised certification aligned with Oracle Database 21c or an equivalent for 19c.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain and optimise Oracle databases to ensure high availability and reliable performance.
  • Install, configure and patch database software and related components in accordance with best practices and organisational policies.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies, and regularly validate recovery procedures.
  • Monitor database health, capacity and performance; diagnose and resolve issues promptly.
  • Implement and maintain database security, access controls and auditing to protect data confidentiality and integrity.
  • Participate in capacity planning, upgrades and migrations, including work related to Data Guard, RAC, ASM and Grid Infrastructure where applicable.
  • Collaborate with development, operations and security teams to support deployment, automation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain documentation, runbooks and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Provide on-call support as required and contribute to incident post-mortems and corrective action plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience.
  • At least one recognised certification aligned with Oracle Database 21c or an equivalent document for 19c that reflects \new future\ features in 21c. Accepted examples include but are not limited to:

    • Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Database 19c: Data Guard Administrator
    • Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Database 19c: RAC, ASM, and Grid Infrastructure Administrator
    • Oracle Certified Professional Oracle Database Security Expert
    • Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder
    • Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite 11g Certified Implementation Specialist
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery concepts, performance tuning, SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Experience with clustering, high availability solutions and database replication technologies is an advantage.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across technical teams.
  • Clear communication skills in the working language of the team.
