Senior Backend Engineer (Go/Java) - hybrid from Warsaw

Job Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (Go / Java) — an experienced engineer is sought to join a private equity client’s small, high-performing engineering team. The person in this role will design, develop and maintain critical internal platforms that support business operations at scale, focusing on reliability, security and maintainability. This position is suitable for candidates who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, producing high-quality code and collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.

 

Note: This is a hybrid role - 3 days in the office in Warsaw, 2 days remotely

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and applications used in production.
  • Deliver production-ready solutions with emphasis on code quality, security and maintainability.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technical leads and business stakeholders to define and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests and help improve engineering standards and best practices.
  • Support CI/CD processes and continuous delivery workflows.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability and scalability.
  • Engage in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software development.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining complex backend systems in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD and code quality assurance.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one backend language such as Go or Java.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a product-oriented environment.
  • Very good spoken and written English.
  • Desirable: experience with data pipelines and dbt; TypeScript, React, Node.js or Next.js; Kubernetes, Amazon ECS or other container orchestration platforms; prior work on internal platforms or business-critical systems; direct collaboration with business stakeholders; experience within product-led organisations.
