Senior Java Engineer (Core Banking)

Senior Java Engineer to join a Core Banking team responsible for the development, modernization and support of mission-critical banking systems and integrations. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain backend services using Java 11/17+ and Spring Boot/Spring Framework.
  • Develop and consume REST APIs and microservices, ensuring robust and secure integrations.
  • Implement persistence solutions with JPA/Hibernate and optimize SQL for Oracle Database.
  • Integrate with external systems using REST and SOAP protocols and implement event-driven integration patterns.
  • Design and operate messaging solutions using Kafka or similar platforms to support asynchronous workflows.
  • Contribute to architecture and code reviews to maintain high standards for reliability, scalability and performance.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with product, QA and operations teams to deliver production-critical features.
  • Provide on-call support and incident response for production systems as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Java 11/17+ and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Framework).
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture and event-driven design.
  • Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
  • Practical experience integrating via REST and SOAP and with messaging platforms such as Kafka.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Database and strong SQL skills.
  • Experience building and operating distributed, highly available systems in production-critical financial environments.
  • Involvement in core banking migration or transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methods.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • Nic eto have: experience with core banking platforms (e.g., FLEXCUBE, Temenos, Finacle, Mambu, Thought Machine), container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift), cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD and Git, Domain-Driven Design.
