We are seeking a Technical Lead with deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript to lead the technical direction and architecture of a key application within the Olympic and Paralympic Digital Platform programme. The person in this role will lead end-to-end technical delivery, engage directly with the client and senior stakeholders, and mentor an engineering team across development and QA.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical architecture and direction for one of the primary LA2028 applications.
- Lead technical delivery end-to-end, including design decisions, risk management, dependency coordination, and release planning.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices within the team where appropriate.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, working closely with Product, client representatives, and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in and lead technical discussions with senior stakeholders, clearly decisions, trade-offs, and implications.
- Mentor and support engineers across development, QA and related technical disciplines to improve delivery quality and team capability.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, performant, observable, and aligned with cloud-native and DevOps best practices.
Qualifications
- Senior engineering profile with substantial experience in software engineering and prior experience in Tech Lead, Staff, or Principal roles.
- Strong practical experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.
- Proven knowledge of cloud-native architectures, distributed and event-driven systems.
- Experience with Kubernetes, observability tooling, and modern DevOps practices.
- Demonstrable architecture skills focused on scalability and performance.
- Strong client-facing skills; comfortable leading technical conversations and communicating clearly with senior stakeholders.
- English language proficiency at C1 level.
- Nice to have: experience with internet-scale or high-concurrency systems, hands-on AI-assisted or agentic engineering, familiarity with Drupal or headless CMS, and experience in sports, media, or live-event platforms.
