We are seeking an experienced OpenShift Technical Lead to assume responsibility for the platform's technical direction, architecture and key engineering decisions. This hands-on leadership role requires strong platform engineering expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple infrastructure and engineering teams. The person in this role will shape platform strategy, drive technical trade-offs, and ensure the resilience, security and operational excellence of an enterprise OpenShift environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the technical architecture and roadmap for the OpenShift platform, aligning design with business requirements and operational constraints.
- Lead platform engineering efforts including cluster design, installation, upgrades, and lifecycle management of OpenShift and Kubernetes components.
- Make and communicate key engineering decisions, documenting rationale, trade-offs and implementation plans.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking and application engineering teams to integrate platform solutions across hybrid-cloud and edge environments.
- Develop and maintain automation, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code to ensure repeatable, auditable deployments and configuration management.
- Establish and enforce operational best practices for observability, incident response, capacity planning and cost control.
- Mentor and guide engineers across teams to raise platform competency and ensure consistent implementation of standards.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools and processes that improve platform reliability, security and scalability.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in roles such as Technical Lead, Platform Architect or equivalent, with demonstrated leadership in platform delivery.
- Deep technical expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes, including container orchestration, cluster management and ecosystem components.
- Strong Linux systems administration skills and familiarity with container runtimes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of networking, security controls, identity and access management, and enterprise infrastructure design.
- Experience with cloud, hybrid-cloud and edge architectures, and working knowledge of public cloud provider services.
- Solid background in automation and platform engineering practices, including Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD and configuration management.
- Proven ability to drive technical decisions and coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent practical experience in platform engineering or systems architecture.
