Senior DevOps Engineer (with GCP) - Kraków hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer (with GCP) to join a hybrid team based in Kraków (2 days per week at the client’s office). This role sits within a large Banking and Finance programme and reports to the InfraPOD sub-team. The person in this role will design and maintain cloud and on‑prem infrastructure, automate operational processes, manage CI/CD pipelines and support production and non‑production environments. Work is aligned with Polish hours; the team holds a daily stand‑up at 08:00. The role requires a highly independent individual contributor capable of translating business requirements into robust technical solutions and collaborating across global locations.

Responsibilities

  • Design infrastructure architecture and prepare clear technical documentation.
  • Automate infrastructure and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Develop, manage and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Ensure performance, reliability and security of cloud and on‑premises environments.
  • Provide operational support for production and non‑production systems in collaboration with development, SRE and DBA teams.
  • Identify automation opportunities and deliver end‑to‑end solutions to reduce manual work.
  • Maintain MQ and sFTP integrations with external partner systems, and manage TLS certificate-related operations.
  • Coordinate service management activities including disaster recovery planning, patching and system upgrades.
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, network and deployment issues.
  • Assess existing systems, perform gap analysis and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and DevOps tooling.
  • Proven expertise in Jenkins, Ansible, Cloud Build and CI/CD automation.
  • Proficiency in Shell and Python scripting; experience with Java or Python‑based environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and containerised environments.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with IBM MQ, sFTP integrations and TLS certificate management.
  • Fluent English, with ability to collaborate with global teams and translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Go.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, Flux, Docker and GitHub.
  • Experience working with REST APIs using Shell or Python.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle and CloudSQL.
  • Experience with microservices architectures and messaging systems such as Solace.
