Job Overview
We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join a project that will rebuild a journalist reporting and payment system. The person in this role will focus primarily on automation, contributing to both API and UI test coverage as the platform is migrated from the current Azure + AWS Lambda setup to MARS. The role involves working with Java on the backend and Lambda functions, and JavaScript + React on the frontend. You will help modernize an outdated solution and shape a reliable, maintainable automated testing strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for frontend and backend components, with emphasis on automation-first approaches.
- Create and run API tests (current Postman collections) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines using Newman or similar tools.
- Develop and extend UI automation using Cypress and JavaScript; explore combining UI and API tests into a unified automation framework.
- Collaborate with developers and product stakeholders during the migration of the user portal from Azure/AWS Lambda/SQS to MARS.
- Perform manual testing when required to validate complex scenarios and support release readiness.
- Investigate, report and track defects; contribute to test planning, estimations and continuous improvement of test processes.
- Contribute to quality-focused automation design, including test data management, environment configuration and CI/CD integration.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in API testing.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in UI testing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Cypress for frontend automation (JavaScript).
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Postman for API testing; familiarity with Newman or CI integration is required.
- Experience working with Java for backend or serverless functions is an advantage given the planned migration and development.
- Familiarity with cloud services and message queuing concepts (Azure, AWS Lambda, Amazon SQS) is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication skills in English and willingness to work in an iterative, migration-focused project environment.
